Low Energy Demonstrator Accelerator T-53
Phase I and II
Los Alamos National Laboratory

Owner: Los Alamos National Laboratory

Engineer: Merrick & Company

Project Size: 30,000 Square Feet

Contract Amount: $999,501

Completion Date: July 1997

This project involved the construction of an electrical power substation and AC/DC Converter. Phase I was to relocate existing utilities, including stainless steel piping and performing miscellaneous earthwork. Once that was completed, MSR installed a concrete transformer pad (32 tons of rebar and 1,000 cubic yards of concrete). Phase I was completed in stages: stage one was completed in time for the first electrical gear to be installed, despite rebar delivery delays and weather delays. Phase II consisted of installing 64 tons of galvanized steel to support the electrical bus duct. Install owner furnished electrical bus duct.
